Snow Update 18/03/18 9pm

18 March 2018 (by admin)

Dear Parents and Carers, The return of snow today may have been a delight for children, but some adults may have been a little less enthusiastic about it.

This afternoon paths were cleared through the remaining snow and extra salt added around the two school sites. We are currently planning on being open as usual tomorrow morning, but we will continue to monitor the situation carefully overnight and early in the morning.

Snow is currently falling and temperatures are set to be freezing in the early hours. The roads tomorrow morning are therefore likely to be quite icy and potentially covered in snow.

Please can you ensure that children come to school in suitable footwear such as welly boots and bring alternative indoor shoes that can be worn inside the buildings. If there is snow still lying around on the school site and we are open, it is highly likely that children will be allowed to enjoy the snow at some stage, so suitable layered clothing and waterproof rackets and trousers would be helpful.

School Road is often very challenging in the icy conditions and parents may find it better to park near the Lamb Inn and walk down to school.

I will update the school website as early as possible tomorrow morning and send out a school comms message confirming arrangements by 7am.

I would like to reassure you that the safety of children, parents and staff are paramount in the decision making process, but our priority is to open as usual tomorrow if at all possible.

Any local weather updates direct to my e-mail would be appreciated at any time.

Kind regards,

Paul Lailey
