Spring Term 2
'Field to Fork'
Welcome Back everyone! We are really looking forward to our new topic Field to Fork which we started this week with a trip to River Bourne Community Farm! We had a fantastic time looking at a variety of farm animals and learning lots of different facts about them.
This Term we will be learning about what happens on the Farm and about all the animals that live on it. We will be planting our own vegetables, caring for plants, writing our own farm poems and much more.
A lot of this term will be spent outside looking at changed taking place in our environment. We will be using our new all in one weather suits in our outside area so that we can go out even in the rain!
The children have already thought of a question each about the farm that we will answer over the next 6 weeks.
Spring Term 1
What a wonderful Christmas everyone has had! We have been hearing all about the presents that children received and outings they have been on over the holidays. This term we are focusing on different traditional tales and have lots of fun activities planned for the children. We have been busy this week updating our role play area and setting the scene for the weeks ahead.
Today the children experienced their first Big Story Day which was fantastic. We teamed up with Year 3 and learnt all about the 'Epiphany'. Our focus was the birth of Jesus and celebrating his arrival as the son of God. The Children wrote news articles, made birth certificates and pretended to be news reporters to spread the word! We also made Gold crowns with precious jewels to represent the gifts that were given to Jesus when he was born.
Welcome Back Everyone
We have really enjoyed hearing about what the children got up to over half term, they all appear to have been very busy!
This term our topic is called We're going on a Journey. During this topic we look at different vehicles, places we have visited, Space and fictional stories such as We're going on a Bear Hunt. We have been busy this week changing our role play into a post office which has proven very popular with the children. We will continue this term to follow our Song of Sounds phonic scheme which takes place daily in the classroom and will send another set of sounds home shortly.
Thank you for your ongoing support with reading at home.
Our First Term at School
The children have had a fantastic start to school and have settled well into Woodside. We have spent this term learning new routines and getting to know our classroom. Our topic has been All About Me and the children have really enjoyed taking turns to take the All About Me Bag home. We have been on Autumn walks, visited our local church, and produced some excellent work in our classroom. We have now started our Song of Sounds phonics scheme and below are the sounds we have taught to far:
We hope you all have a brilliant half term and look forward to starting our new topic 'Journeys' when we get back.
Well Done Woodside!
Welcome to The New Forest Primary School
We have been delighted at how well the children have arrived at school this week! They have all looked incredibly smart and have been excited to start their school journey with us. This week we are introducing all the areas within our classroom and our outside area. The children have been exploring our resources and learning where everything is kept. We have played lots of getting to know you names and have provided lots of opportunities for the children to form new friendships which they have really enjoyed. Woodside have been learning the structure of our day and getting to grips with our school rules and expectations.
For the first two part-time weeks our topic is a mini topic called starting school. When the children become full time our topic changes to All About Me.
Well done Children on your fantastic start to school!
