School Meals
We are extremely proud of our school meal service. Our brand new purpose built kitchen was completed in December 2015 and we have been serving delicious food since January 2016. Our kitchen team have worked hard to develop exciting and enjoyable meals that fully comply with school food standards. Our School Cook, Miss Pam Davis and our Assistant Cook, Mrs Charlotte Smith, have created a menu full of both traditional meals and contemporary food.
Our menu operates on a three week menu, with options chosen in advance. We are able to adapt our menu to suit specific dietary needs, providing these have been formally diagnosed by healthcare professionals.
To ensure that our meals are as inclusive as possible we always offer a vegetarian meal alongside our meat or fish options. All of our desserts are suitable for vegetarians and our entire menu is nut-free.
We have been providing meals to our younger children since September 2014 as part of the Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) initiative. Initially these meals were provided by a commercial catering company but we were fortunate to obtain a grant from the Department for Education to build our own kitchen. Employing our on kitchen staff has given us control over the quality of the food and we work hard to ensure that our school meals are of the very highest standard.
We are able to provide free hot meals to all of our children in Reception, Year One and Year Two at our Landford site. Children in Years 3-6 at our Nomansland site are able to purchase school meals although packed lunches remain an option for all children.
We currently serve approximately 120 meals every day.
