THE NEW FOREST SCHOOL PTA
The New Forest Primary School PTA (Parents Teachers Association) is a charitable group dedicated to raising funds to benefit the children of The New Forest Primary School. Part of our role is to foster the great sense of community that we have in and around our school - quite simply a chance to make new friends and get involved.
Obviously Covid means we cannot currently hold events as we have in the past but historically have a number of key fund raising events each year, including our fantastic Summer and Christmas Fayres.
In the past, we have raised up to £17,000 in a school year, which has provided vital funding for a diverse range of projects and opportunities for the children across the school - from ICT equipment & library books - to trips & workshops - to developing the school grounds and the learning environment for all our children.
Our current PTA Chairs are Beth Robinson, who has children in years 3 & 4 and Hannah Cox who has children in Years 2 & R our Secretary is Jo Mitchell a year 5 parent; and our Treasurer is Claire Collins a Year 2 parent. However, our group includes parents from across the school, teachers and the Head Teacher.
Across the school as a whole, parents/governors/teachers get involved in a variety of ways without becoming 'official' PTA members. Some parents like to give an hour of their time to help at an event, many parents help by simply baking a cake, others use their special talents or even apply to their employers for match funding - YOU CAN BECOME AS INVOLVED AS YOU WISH.
If you do decide to join the PTA committee, then you may decide to head up a small event or lead a sub-committee and tackle a big project. Alternatively, managing our social media or licensing is important - there is a role for all willing volunteers.
Events currently planned for the year 2020-21:
- Second hand uniform sale
- Pumpkin carving competition
